I'm actually sick to my stomach about Proposition h8te here in California.

I figured most of the people in this state were morons anyway but couldn't they see through the lies propagated by the Mormons, Catholics and out of state religious zealot busybodies? Guess not.

So, sure we have an African America president. But we're also now going to discriminate against gays at the state constitution level. That's pathetic.

This is a human rights issue. A very BASIC human rights issue. The religious should keep their grubby hands out of politics. What's next? Banning different races from marrying? Only allowing christians to marry?

We have to eliminate these intolerant beliefs. Education obviously failed to save our government. I refuse to be ruled by these fairy tales.

It really bothers me how the neocons have almost completely transformed a thriving American empire into a banana republic in just a few short years...less than a decade to destroy a country that's stood for 200+ previous and survived a civil war, a depression and two world wars. Sad really.

It has long been a contention of mine that the reason "ordinary" people vote Republicans is that they use small words.

When a guy comes across as genuine and likable it's because you are on the same level of communication as them even while inside his brain the candidate is running circles around you. People perceive that the candidate is reaching out to them (even if it's actually down to them) and want to eat BBQ with him because he's down-homey (even if he owns 13 cars for his 9 houses).

Democrats have always talked concepts and ideas and programs that are always so complicated. Democrats seem to be the party of the wonk and end up at debates coming across like a comp-sci major trying to explain why there are different color lightsabers to a bored co-ed at a frat party.

But I could never form the concept into small enough chunks myself to figure out what I'm thinking. You know how that goes; you have a vague concept that's sort of on the tip of your mental tongue but you just can't quite speak it. Well over at Huff Dr. Joesph Romm has done it for me. Yayz.

The Republicans have twisted themselves in knots with their death bead conversion to Feminism thanks to Sarah Palin. So, all of those stand-by attack lines couldn't be used. She scares the bejesus out of the conservatives and she would rally the born again's to the bad guys cause, right? Well Palin's already done that. So, the Hillary negatives are gone. But the Hillary positves are huge: She'd lock down swing states like Michigan and maybe even Ohio and Pennsylvania. McCain would roll over and die.

Biden should drop out and Hillary Clinton should be added to the ticket before the debates start. Then let Bill and his machine really crank up and get going. He'd hit McLipstick right where it counts.

It's all the rage to talk about how Sarah Palin is dodging reporters sequestered in some undisclosed location but no one has figured out why. I have though. The logical conclusion is she's being schooled cram style in foreign and domestic policy so that she might eventually appear competent. Hell, they're probably teaching her Robert's Rules of Order and the Constitution too since i doubt she knows either one. But it's otherwise obvious.

It doesn't matter anyway because it's time to get back to attacking McCain as a Bush clone. Obama appears (yes "appears" only because we can't believe polls and the media either since their self-interest requires this campaign to be a horse race) to be losing his grip with independents. This bleeding has to stop and the best way to do that is to hammer home how McBush has sold his soul to special interests to win the election.

And a side note: If you find out there is a McCain rally in your town, by all means go. And once you're attending and people are cheering the batty old sleestak's hissed out dogma be sure to chant "Four more years! Four more years!" This will set the meme in motion like no other words will and the yahoos at the rally won't know any better. Heck, they might join in.

I heard the clip of Danny Deutsch on CNBC gushing earlier today about how awesome Palin was and how she's changing fashion and all this bullshit. Fine, whatever it takes, dude. Keep telling yourself that like all the Repuppetcan spokesman are telling anyone who will listen how great she is so they can talk themselves into it.

This whole election is going to come down to Colorado, I'm afraid. And they're just a simple vote tamper away from going to McCain. After all their rigorous "certification" Diebold's machines are the only ones that are allowed to be used in Colorado for the 2008 election cycle.

This matters because Colorado, with it's Democrat governor is most definitely in play. And if I can figure this out, Rove can figure this out.

Let's look at RealClearPolitics where they have taken the average of recent polls...




Above we see this poll that shows how the electoral college stands with most recent polling up to but not including the last two days of RNC demagoguery. Colorado went Bush two elections in a row although they are slowly bluing. It's hard to say if Palin will invigorate their yahoo vote or not.

But right now, before any convention bounce for the Repubs it's super tight in Colorado.





This is a must-win state because it will make or break Obama's electoral victory. But they are ripe for tampering because they can fall back on the "closeness" if they just throw out or change even a small amount of Obama's vote on the machines as long as it adds up to 1% of his total vote being taken away.

Colorado must be a hand recount state! I hope Obama's camp realizes this and gets the lawyers ready now.

Let's drop the character and experience arguments. They are hollow and distract from the real issues at hand in this campaign:

The Republicans are anti-choice.
The Republicans support torture at Gitmo.
The Republicans think we can drill our way out of dependence on foreign oil.
The Republicans believe the war in Iraq has "winning" as an end strategy when there is no defined victory condition at all.
The Republicans would like to teach creation myths along side science in public schools.

If that doesn't make up your mind you probably shouldn't vote.

So, can the Republicans ride into a third term defending these issues or do they need character, "narrative", and experience as a smoke screen to deflect criticism of their agenda?

But you might want to take a closer look at what you mean by "left." Your bunch of idiots has dragged the Republican party so far right you make the Pope look like a Kennedy. And "angry"? Well, why shouldn't we be angry if we're not one of your pasty old rich white folk? You've DESTROYED this country. You wiped your ass with the Constitution. You're making everyone with less than a liquid million in the bank live hand to mouth. People are getting thrown out of their houses, their personal liberties have evaporated, the right to privacy is gone, and you expect them to be happy about it?

Besides the wealthy who is happy? It's only the uneducated republican poor who, blinded with the preceived good intentions of their religious faith, have been taken advantage of by your cynical band of meme rustlers who talked them into voting for your party because you tell them God wants them to. Of course they traded the cow of their immortal soul for your bag of magic beans because home schooling doesn't credit critical thinking and they end up blaming the left for ills they brought on themselves by voting against their self interests. Sure no one wants to be called stupid (something i wish the Dems would figure out so they would stop using so many big words in so many long sentences) but they need to know you've raped their souls. Those of us on the "angry left" that can see what you did there are angry in part at the unfairness of you fooling those poor rubes.

This is not the PTA or some local talent show, this is real. Palin is John McCain's understudy as Vice President putting her one slight slip on the stairs away from the starring role! And she can't sing!!

I watched Obama's speech--thank god for tivo since my brother called near the end.

It was an inspiring speech and the repugs got nothing on it. Critics (what few there were) found themselves repeating the same old hack lines. The National Review guy said he sounded "bitter". That all you got, pal? Obama disarmed the republican machine, pulled the barrel from their gun, and handed it back to them like the freaking Dark Knight. It's like their corpse is still standing even as the samurai moves onto his next target. It will take days for their machine to recover but anything they've got will look small.

I was already going to vote Obama but he's looking more and more like a president that history could judge well. Looks are always deceiving and I still think the bad guys are going to try and steal the election for the third time in a row, but if there is justice and if this country has a chance to avoid falling into ruin, Obama is it.

Oh, and those poor deluded little comment people posting on all the boards (including the BBC!) that keep saying Obama's victory will bring socialism to America and blah blah blah... I can understand their fear. There will be no place for them in our new world. Guard the bell towers.

I haven't posted in a while but I'm getting sick to death of Obama sitting back while McCain besmirches his character with false attack ads. (Yes, I know he claims they're not his but they are approved by his camp to be certain!)

I'm now at 30,560 words. Of course I'm supposed to be at 38,341 but it's still better than yesterday or if I'd written nothing at all. It's still going to be tough to get to 50,000 but I think I can do it. It won't finish the novel but it will get nearly complete, I hope. I figure if I can write 3,334 words or more tomorrow through next Friday the 30th I should make it. I will not be able to write Sunday because I'll be in San Diego for the day. *sigh* As always, I will be cutting it really close.

27,956. I'm behind, not caught up like I thought I'd be by Monday. I will have 10,000 words to make up tomorrow. I figure instead I can do 3,000 a day until the end of Nano to get it done.
